Nimmy tagged me for this meme where I have to list my most favorite ten songs from two languages; songs which are soft and melodious. Iam a sucker for old Hindi film songs and still havent grown out of them. I never seem to have enough of them. I will go nuts if I really try to decide my top ten Hindi songs. I absolutely love not 10 or 20 or 50 but perhaps 500 songs. So, I will just list random ten favorite songs of mine, songs which come to my mind first. I will list some slow/soulful Punjabi songs too. The A to Z films meme (Part 2)

Here comes the second part of my A to Z films meme. I have picked only one film from a particular letter; except P and S, where I picked two films each in lieu of letters Q and U respectively (I couldn’t come up with a single film from these two letters which I thought was very good). Thanks to all you guys who have done the meme and am looking forward to the ones who are yet to do it. I repeat once again that when you write few lines about the movie, try to write what made you personally like the film so much rather than writing the synopsis of the story (which we can anyways read ourselves).

Notorious: (1946)

Alfred Hitchcock’s bit less known but nevertheless perfect suspense drama. I think Notorious had exceptionally pure story line. In the sense that maximum effect comes from minimum of elements. Notorious is considered one of the best examples of suspense in cinema history, and I cannot agree more. Ingrid Bergman looked so beautiful and angelic. Where are those beauties now?

The A to Z of Films Meme (Part 1)

I got this interesting film meme from Chris. What’s interesting about this meme is that rather than choosing your top 10, 20, 50 etc films of all time, which is always an impossible thing to do for many of us, it asks you to list an alphabetical list of your favorite films, one for each letter of the alphabet. Yes, it’s still challenging because it could happen that your many favorite films start from the same alphabet (as it happened with me), but still easier and fun to do than trying to list best films. I have also written few lines after every film (except two), where I tried to sum up those things which I thought made me like the film so much. I did a bit of a cheating by listing two films starting from G, rather than one, as I could not come up with a really cool film starting from H. I tag all currently active bloggers on my blogroll, Amit, Anamika, Canadiancinephile, Nova, Nomad, Nita, Poonam, Prerna, Reema, Roop, Ruhi and Shefaly, to do this meme. All other readers of this blog are also more than welcome to do this tag. If you can, please write down few sentences or even few words explaining what made a particular film favorite for you..I think it will really richen your meme. Not exactly favourite..But, The Time magazine, The Economist & Intelligent Life are good I think..I used to read Outlook & India Today very religiously while in India, but havent read them since 5-6 years now.

If I visit a home where I have lived before or a building where I used to work/study in the past, a very familiar smell hits me. Even if I go there after 10 years, the smell is exactly the same.. it’s both bizarre and fascinating; Also, the smell of Gobhi Parantha..

1. Pick out a scar you have, and explain how you got it.
I’ve a small scar on my left eybebrow since the age of 9. I got it when I banged my head on an iron gate while hanging to and fro on the gate.
2. What does your phone look like? List your reasons to buy it?
I own a Motorola ( Iam too lazy to check further). I bought it because it looked sleek and more importantly, I got it for free with my contract
3. What is on the walls of your bedroom?
Oh, I just shifted to a new house..havent adorned my walls..
4. What is your current desktop picture?
Regular windows interface..Common, Iam not a horny teenager anymore
5. Do you believe in gay marriage?
Ofcourse..
6. What do you want more than anything right now?
To get this thing done quickly while sounding funny and cool

When Iam alone and watching all that crap on tv and internet, I can cry on anything mushy..So, just a few hours back when I was watching Terminal, there was a scene where Tom Hanks is ridiculed..and that brought tears to my eyes..oh my God..I suck..

Not too fussy on that..Currently using Swiss Army
11. What kind of hair/eye color do you like in the opposite sex?
She has to be sexy in some way or another..hair color doesnt matter much..Generally, I prefer black more than blonde but sometimes blonde suits more to a girl..same for eye color

Iam listening to the sounds of keystrokes only.. it is quite late here u see
13. Do you get scared of the dark?
I have hardly seen real darkness after I came to Canada..there is always some light coming in from somewhere even after I switch all the lights off
14. Do you like painkillers?
Couple of years back, more than once I had terrible pain in my back and even folks at emergency have to give me strongest of painkillers..So, I dont mind them if I have no other option.
15. Are you too shy to ask someone out?
Common..Iam a guy..Ofcourse not……….. And you bought it?
16. If you could eat anything right now, what would it be?
Not to eat..but I really want to drink Sprite now… after that spicy and hot Chicken Biryani I had three hours back..

I cannot remember; I dont think I get Mad that easily nowadays

Late on morning appointments or cancelling them at last moment… apart from many other habits which I dont want to disclose here

I have developed this weird habit of smiling zillion times a day assuming Iam the next Colgate Palmolive model..So, it was just an hour back when I smiled at our building porter’s dumb small talk..

8 Random Facts about me

Jana tagged me for this and , after postponing it for a while, I actually feel excited writing these random facts.

1. Iam the eldest child of my parents; My father is eldest among his siblings . My grandfather too was eldest among his siblings. My grandmother is eldest among her siblings; And finally, my mother was also born before all her sisters and brothers; So, you see, there are so many firsts in me.Biologically speaking, I should have best of genes. But, quite unsurprisingly, nothing has happened in my life which might suggest that being ” First” comes to me naturally.

2. I need to sleep atleast 8-9 hours everyday.

3. When I was 13, I had a huge crush on Meenakshi Sheshadhari, leading actress of mid-late80’s; After she didnt reply my letters-including a registered letter-, I sent her a telegram ( Yes folks, SRK of “Darr” learnt chasing from me); Iam not sure if that worked , but I did receive a postcard signed by her finally. Fortunately, that was my only celebrity crush. But, I still think that she- along with Smita Patil and Kate Winslet- is the most beautiful woman.

4. Last week for two consecutive days I wore socks from two different pairs; Yes, it was by mistake the first day..but, not the day after!

5. In my 30 years of existence, I have relocated record 16 times. And if I count different houses in same towns/cities, the number will be more than my age. Part of that was due to my father’s transferable job and bigger part of that was due to my inherent vagabond tendencies, rather than anything else ; But I still hope that it hasnt turned me into somebody who is scared of loving too much;

6. I love eating ” Chicken Biryani” ; But, I cannot prepare it myself.

7. 90% of the people here in Montreal/Toronto/US think -when they first see me- that Iam either Spanish or middle eastern. Actually, I have been told that I look anything ( Except ofcourse chinese, black or pure white) but Indian..So, I could be from Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Portugal, Iran, Yugosolavia and what not. Earlier, I thought it was cool..But, now I get pissed off sometimes..Probably because it’s adding another layer in my already confused identity..

8. Here comes the clincher; Yesterday, when I went to get my bluetooth for my Cell-phone, the saleswoman offered me a discount of 30% …but with a condition; The condition was that I kiss her first; I complied; Common guys, she had a big heart & great sense of humor..nothing else; Nevertheless, it was cool
