Life is cool

August 30, 2007 · 10 Comments

Yesterday was a great day for me. I got the job I was trying to get since last 3-4 months. Now, here is the thing. Iam having a great time doing Management Consulting cum market research for this big consulting firm. But I was not very sure about the stability part of the job…. I work as an independent consultant with them. Normally, I dont give a damn about stability..I think stability in any job is kind of a passe nowadays and frankly very boring too.

But I needed a job like this for the next 10 months or so..so that I get the time to sort out the most important things….

Now this job is in University..I will be working with senior management professors ..work is decent and with the kind of work load in this job, I can keep doing consulting work with my present firm till summer..I can really achieve my target of saving the money I need before I embark on the most important project of my life..

And listen..can u believe the job is at McGill..that means back to Montreal..I just cannot believe how things have fallen into place perfectly in one day..

Mediocrity

August 25, 2007 · 2 Comments

Iam sick of mediocrity in my life. Trying to do too many things at the same time has become part and parcel of my life; It is often leading to mediocre or even below average results.
Dude, pull up your socks..world is not going to give discount for your mistakes..it appreciates and remembers only excellency..And I suspect you do have the ability to achieve your potential..
Go for it..without any fear..

Chak De Phattey

August 19, 2007 · 5 Comments

Chak de India is clearly the best Hindi movie which has come out this year..till now . Bheja fry was quite good too, but it’s scope was limited – also not to forget it was 60-70% straight rip off from a French movie-
One of the best performances given by SRK . The magical realism of Chak De is it’s highest point; Close camera angles giving the movie a surreal feel; larger than life motivations of it’s characters; neo-realistic treatment of even high voltage scenes; Many good things actually.
But all this was expected from craftsmen like director Shimit Amin ( ab tak chappan) and writer Jaideep Sahni- probably the best screenwriter after Salim-Javed- whose earlier works include the brilliant “Company” and different ” Khosla ka Ghosla”.
The straight from the heart patriotism never gives way to jingoism- one of the most difficult things to achieve in a story like that.
The women were gorgeous. I just fell in love with the girl who played Bindiya Naik-the villain of the team. I think the role suited her to the hilt and she looks soooo sexy man.
Iam going to watch the movie again.

Sanjay Dutt’s sentence

August 5, 2007 · 3 Comments

I feel sorry for Sanjay Dutt. Iam not qualified to understand the intricacies of the case, but I do feel that sentence was too harsh and not entirely justified. Here are my reasons.
I just went over all the people who were found guilty for various offences related to 93 bomb blasts and who were sentenced along with dutt. It is pretty obvious that his offence was different from other people. Atleast I coudlnt see anything severe in what he did compared with offences of other convicts.
The case is high profile and that’s one of the reasons that he couldnt have gone scot free. Second, judiciary wanted to prove to the world that our judicial system is fair and does not discriminate between a king and a pauper; So, in effect, he is paying price for being a celebrity..it’s very obvious.
If he was in Canada or in US , nobody would have said that he is being victimized or so..because here these kind of sentences to high profile people are common. The reason so many people in India are sympathetic to his cause is because they see his sentence in Indian context. When so many people , especially politicians, who were responsible for much graver crimes are roaming free, why judiciary has shown over-enthusiasm in punishing him. The SriKrishna report on 93 blasts and riots aftermath very squarely blamed Shiv Sena and it’s goons for the bloodshed but still, many of the politicians involved continue to hold the office. Infact the Maharashtra government hasnt even accepted the report till date. Again, Modi government was clearly responsible for the Gujarat riots…and we know nothing has been done to punish those people..
Let’s hope that supreme court reduces his sentence….
